Mermaid hair

Help your hair grow faster!

Cut your hair for the summer and regretted it right after you left the hair salon? Or maybe you are a mermaid hair fan? Today I am going to share a little secret: yes, you can help your hair grow faster! Hair grows about 1,25 cm / month. That’s 15 cm/year. The math applies only to healthy hair, though…according to the experts, apart from your genes and lifestyle, hair growth speed has very much to do with your roots. Yes, there goes that «cut your hair regurarly» myth…want to find out what really works?

  1. Keep your scalp healthy
Think of your hair like being a tree: if the soil and roots aren’t taken good care of, the tree cannot get tall and strong. Likewise, long hair starts from your scalp and roots. When you take care of them, you take care of the tree, you hair I mean.

  1. Cold-water rinse at the end of each shower

giving your hair the cold shoulder is something that will really make them stronger. Why? Cold water closes up the hair scales so as to trap water on the inside. Bare with the cold, it only lasts a few seconds each time and, believe me, the results are glorious!

  1. Οil conditioning treatment

Castor oil enhances hair growth by helping circulation around the hair follicles, pushing the hair to grow faster and faster. Its antibacterial traits help the skin remain healthy, plus omega-6 fatty acids, vitamin E, proteins and other nutrients found in castor oil allow humidity to stay locked inside your hair. A nice trick is to mix it with coconut oil, the uber medicine for every part of your body!

  1. Skip the daily shampooing

Washing your hair every day doesn’t make it cleaner, but it deprives it of its natural oils that are responsible for hair growth! Plus, hair loses its flexibility, split ends start to make their appearance and so you start going for haircuts ever so often. Use a clarifying shampoo to wash your hair every 2-3 days, as they contain components that really clean your hair while reviving it.

  1. Avoid heat styling tools

Use them only on special occasions, since heat is the number one enemy of your hair. On those rare times, always use a product that will protect your hair from the heat.

  1. Be careful when you brush wet hair

When your hair is wet, it breaks easily; so brushing it right after taking a shower is a disaster in the making! Use a wide-toothed comb and start by combing the ends of your hair, working your way upward. When your hair is dry, comb it with your head upside down and if you are going to use a brush, make sure it is made of natural hairs. Why? Fast blood circulation on the scalp, even distribution of oils. Nice, huh?

  1. Feed your hair

Beauty starts from within, you know that by now. You can find special vitamins that help hair growth, like a vitaim B complex and biotin, a great warrior that enhances protein bonds in your hair. Plus, start enriching your diet with protein found in nuts (almonds, peanuts, pecans and walnuts), eggs (the yolk has one of the highest concentrations of Biotin), milk, cheese, pork and cooked liver.

  1. Sleep on a silk pillowcase

Amazing, right? Silk reduces friction, the number one cause of breaking hair and split ends.
